04 The Treadmiller
Don’t exclusively use the treadmill just because it’s there. It feels like most people’s safe place but if you’re bothering to spend money on a membership it’s a real waste if you want to get fit.
Mix and match accordingly to your trainers and your interests and goals. If you do not enjoy the Cycle do not force yourself to cycle for one hour rather switch to something you enjoy,
If you don’t enjoy anything god bless you!
05 The weights section
The weights section will be filled with muscle men; they will make you feel like you’re in the way. They have no right to do this. Weight training is for everyone even if your bulky or thin.
Don’t try to show off if you can’t lift or feel out of placed if you can’t lift the 45 pounds dumbbell. If you stick to the plan and progressively increase weight you will hit that mark.
For the ladies if you can’t face the bulky men making weird noises near the weight section try a female only gym (now popular in Colombo) or avoid peak times.
06. Don’t overdo, Rest and Recover!
Gym trainers will give you a schedule but if you feel your off and tired get the required rest, one or two days out of the gym won’t make you fat nor you will lose the gains.
Read online about the workouts you and your trainer had picked and the impact towards your end goal and never be afraid to interrogate instructors on whether the workout is useful for you.
07. Trial out with the Monthly package
Don’t get motivated or fooled by the annual payment offer if you are not sure of your plans. Most gyms offer Monthly plans or Weekly plans, first get in to one of those and test the water.
